Top Ten of 2015

Its something I challenge myself to do every year – narrow down my favorite images of the year and pick a favorite – and this year was just as hard as years past. I’ve had some amazing clients and personal projects this year and have some incredible stuff planned for next year! But I’m getting ahead of myself… in no particular order (except my favorite at the end)…
——
Erin is always a favorite subject for me. I’ve known her for 10 or more years now and she always, always brings her all to every session. This was done during a workshop given by the great Tony Corbell. I was at a 90 degree angle from where he was and this was the morning sunrise coming up behind her and the river faded into the background. It shows just how breathtakingly beautiful Erin can be.

Another Erin and this time a workshop I was giving. I was showing my class how to use constant light focused through a grid and looked down at my friend and saw this light on her. Of course, I had to grab it. For more information about my new boudoir/glamour brand, please visit Intimatography.

Shelly came in to do this amazing Black Tape Shoot. The stripes you see here are all electrical tape designed and placed by my friend and artist Clif Mattix. The tiger motif really fits Shelly – beautiful, dangerous, wild, and downright amazing.
——
My friend Kimberly volunteered for this image and proposed the concept when I was assembling images for my fine art boudoir book (still pending). I really love how this one came out and the vintage camera just makes it better… not to mention the crazy stories that lead up to this session.

After seeing my Carmen Sandiego portrait that is on the front page of this website, Ashley and Dan wanted to do a pulp adventure themed session for their annual couple portrait. Since Ashley was pregnant with their son Owen, a mutual friend and I conspired to turn this entire session into a custom storybook album (which will be released to the public sometime next year – it may yet end up in photo competition) – telling all about their adventures. It was an amazing set!
——
Jayme came in to do a different project for me but we both liked this concept so I put it together for him after our shoot. It is an example of the new direction the portrait studio is taking in 2016 which is very exciting.

I couldn’t possibly have a Top Ten for this year that didn’t include my grandson, born on Valentine’s Day of this year. We did this right before Thanksgiving before doing his Christmas portraits, but he makes such an adorable little turkey, I had to include this one.
——
My Queens series this year was a lot of fun and this was my favorite of all of them – Queen of the Storm. This is the second image of Erin to make my Top Ten this year, but not the last.
——
The lovely Kristin is a talented actor and even more talented makeup artist (she is my go to person for Intimatography sessions). She also has a tremendous passion for Cosplay. When she showed me her Joker concept, the inspiration for this image was born – an homage to the classic one shot comic, The Killing Joke.
——
And lastly, my favorite image finished in 2015, Poor Unfortunate Souls. This image was conceived in 2014 and the images of Erin and her boyfriend Nico were done at that time. I worked on it for months and was thrilled when it received my first Master Artist merit at PPA’s International Photographic Competition last August. It had success again less than a month later when it was one of the few photographic art prints that sold at the Grand Prarie Art Council’s Annual Juried Art Show.

Thanks again to everyone involved in images this year, both clients and friends. 2016 is going to be amazing and art filled!
