04/13/2009 20 Photographers to Follow on Twitter
PopPhoto.com recently posted a list of 20 Photography Twitters Worth Following, but the list was almost entirely photography related, with little to no real photographers... so, whoisariston has issued a "challenge" to list 20 Photographers worth following...
So, in no particular order.. here is my list..
- Jim Goldstein - Jim does some really fantastic landscape photography and has a pretty good blog full of advice for photographers trying to make a business of art and stock photography.
- Scott Bourne - Awesome photographer .. and his sponsors seem to always be giving away free stuff.
- Ree Drummond - The Pioneer Woman - Hysterical views on a girl raised in the city now raising her family on a ranch .. oh, and she does some amazing photography on that ranch.
- Jack Hollingsworth - Great insights on social media and photography.
- TriCoast Photography - Mike Fulton and company .. amazing wedding and senior photographers.. and good friends.
- Ariston Photography - Another great resource for social media and photography.
- Kevin Jairaj - Awesome Dallas based wedding photographer.
- Rosh Sillars - One of the original photographer/social media gurus. He has some fascinating views on "new media" and how to use it to build your photography business (and enrich your life).
- Jordan Chan - Another member of TriCoast Photography
- Aric Hoek - Houston based wedding photographer and a master of the business side of photography.
- David Hobby - The Strobist - Master of all things light and balancing it on location.
- Stacy Reeves - Dallas based wedding photographer and friend. Her enthusiasm for wedding photography is almost contagious.
- Neil Creek - Landscape and art photographer from Down Under .. great to fill in your overnight tweets with some inspiring stuff.
- Scott Kelby - Photoshop guru and amazing portrait photographer.
- Dane Sanders - Teacher and photographer .. I want to go to one of his workshops someday
- Anne Ruthmann - Boston based photographer, big on the details
- Mike Muramoto - Nikon guy, but I'll forgive him since he turns out such amazing work
- Randy Kepple - Vancouver based people photographer
- Rick Sammon - Travel photographer with amazing stuff
- Stacey Doyle - Rhode Island portrait and wedding photographer... beautiful work.
I tend to follow people who are real people... they aren't all business all the time... and they have social tweets mixed in with their business ones. Many offer helpful tips as they go along or have great blogs. They also don't tweet every few minutes of their waking hours and most of their posts are not @ replies or retweets.
Don't know what Twitter is all about? Try it, but be warned that it can be addictive.
