American Association 2011 Champions!

The Grand Prairie Air Hogs this week won the American Association Championship by defeating the St. Paul Saints 3 games to 2. They had an amazing ride this season – the best record in the league – winning the semifinals in 4 games – and then coming back from 2 games down to win 3 in a row from the Saints. I have been the team photographer since the beginning of the team 4 years ago and its been a great ride.

This image has been making the rounds after the press release.. and will be on a billboard in Grand Prairie soon.

Abby and Thumper

Abby is an amazing young woman and athlete.. she plays softball (with 10 home runs last season), volleyball, and basketball as well as being involved in the community. She was the perfect subject for this new style of photography I’m offering… I think this one is going to go up on the wall in my office as well.

Summer/Fall Leagues and Air Hogs Baseball

The Grand Prairie Air Hogs are having a great season. Here area few images from this week.

I am in also the process of scheduling summer leagues and fall high school sports for team photography and action shots. If you’re tired of the same old photography for your teams, give me a shout in email or a call at 214-356-2389.

And if you are in the mood for baseball, but don’t want to play major league prices, consider coming out to an Air Hogs game. They have all new food vendors, a new coaching staff, more teams in the league, and other exciting changes… all in a family friendly environment. If you like baseball, come on out.. you won’t be disappointed.

Play Ball!

Last weekend was opening weekend for the Grand Prairie Air Hogs. Before the stands started filling one night, I noticed this little girl (who I suspect was related to the visiting team) wandering around an empty section… I asked her mom if she’d cooperate for a quick picture.

Opening Day

Yesterday was opening day for the Grand Prairie Air Hogs, our local minor league baseball team. I am repeating as the official game photographer this year. There have been a few changes out there, including all new food vendors, so if you have been meaning to come out – now’s the time.. enjoy a game!

The team mascot, Ace Bacon, posed for a hero shot for me before the game… come get your own portrait made with me and we can even arrange access to the ballpark. :)

2010 Review

My favorite image of the year will probably come as no surprise to anyone who has been following the last couple months. It was captured on one of my photography walk-throughs at Texas Scaregrounds this season. This is going to be one of the pieces I take to my first PPA competition this year… so we’ll see how that goes. I’m ever hopeful, of course. :)

Titled “Nocturne” and featuring George and Amber from our Vampire room.

2010 Review: Air Hogs

The Grand Prairie Air Hogs played their third season this year and once again, I served as the official team photographer. Caught this one during a beautiful day game. For those of you that are local, they have specially priced season ticket packages available as Christmas gifts. If you love baseball, you’ll adore the unhurried, For Love of the Game approach out at the ball park.

Open House – July 10

We are happy to announce that we have changed locations! And in true Texas fashion, we’re having a BBQ!

The new place is huge.. 2200 square feet, with more than half of it going to support her business (the KnittingFairy Studio). This has still left me with a sizable chunk for photography, though.. and a very usable space at that.

We are doing it right this time and having an Open House to celebrate on July 10. We will have food and drinks and be offering tours from noon to 5.

If you’re on this side of town, please feel free to drop by!

Air Hogs Baseball

Some of my friends and followers know that I also have a gig as the official photographer for the Grand Prairie Air Hogs, a local minor league team in the American Association. (For those local here, that is the same league as the Fort Worth Cats.) They are an independent baseball league, not affiliated with Major League Baseball, although our players are picked up by various farm teams from time to time.

This was shot this afternoon at a game… infielder David Espinosa leading off the bottom of the fifth with a double to left field. He would come around to score on a home run by the next batter.

Come out and see the Hogs play sometime!
